Amazon India will launch a special store on national sports day on August 29. The store will include a wide variety of outdoor and indoor sports, as well as great deals for the entire week.
“All sports enthusiasts can now shop for a wide selection of sports equipment all at one place,” it said.
“India is not a country short of sporting talent. This talent needs to be identified early and honed. So why not exercise a day to find out which sport fits you the best and which sport ignites your passion and pushes you to work harder and give that extra push in order to excel,” it added.
The sports category on Amazon.in was launched 18 months ago.
The sports category started with a selection of 8,000 products at launch and has seen a phenomenal expansion to reach over 70,000 products currently.
Amongst these, products with Fulfilled by Amazon have increased from 4,000 during launch to over 18,000 currently – a 350% jump.
“Sports equipment on Amazon.in continues to clock a healthy 40% quarter-on-quarter growth in 2015,” the online retailer said.
