Yu Yureka Plus vs Lenovo K3 Note – Which is better at price of Rs 9,999?

Yu, the youth-oriented brand launched by Micromax founders, has relaunched its first phone as Yu Yureka Pluls with better specifications than before, going by a mysterious tweet.

The specifications of the Yureka Plus are – Cyanogen OS 12, 2 GB of RAM, and a 5 MP camera (presumably at the front.)

The price is the same as Lenovo K3 Note at Rs 9,999. The only substantial difference between the Yureka Plus and K3 Note is that while the Yu model comes with Gorilla Glass protection, the Lenovo model does not have it.

Other details of Yureka Plus are as given below:

Yureka Plus is equipped with a 5.5 inch Full HD screen, Out of box Lollipop Cyanogen OS 12, Octa core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM and much more.

Yureka Plus is the souped up version of its first phone which sold over half 5 lakh devices, the company said.

“With YUREKA Plus, YU imparts power to the consumers to carve their own rules as the device comes with out of the box Lollipop based Cyanogen OS 12 and gives them the platform create their own world-a cooler world, a world dashed with their identity.”

“Crafted exquisitely with great finesse, the YUREKA Plus now comes in a stunning White version ‘Alabaster White’ along with the Moondust colour variant and both these will go its first sale on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 12 noon.”

Rahul Sharma, Founder YU said, “With Yureka we ushered in the revolution that’s ‘YUPlayGod’ and we couldn’t have asked for a better response from our community. We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm and cheer we received for the Zeus of phones, Yureka. Grateful for the encouragement and support we are returning the love by breaking our very own unprecedented benchmark with Yureka Plus. ”

YUREKA Plus, just like its predecessor offers cutting edge smartphone capabilities enabled by the Octa core Snapdragon 615 processor with integrated 4G LTE Cat4 modem and 64-bit multi-core CPU promising unmatched performance and experience.

Like Lenovo K3 Note, the Yureka Plus comes with a 5.5 inch FHD IPS display and an Adreno 405 GPU that is designed to facilitate an incredible amount of visual detail in 3D imagery, enabling smooth frame rates and full HD video with H.265 HEVC support.

The phone offers dual SIM slots, a 2500mAh battery and a 13-megapixel rear camera along with a 5-megapixel front camera, thereby, offering a perfect confluence of great design and superior technology.

The excitement began in the morning with Yu leaking details in scrambled tweets.

“I ma agimnk a terrnu. #BetterThanBefore,” was the first tweet.

Unscrambled, it means ‘I am making a return. #betterthanbefore.” Given that the company has only launched two models so far – Yu Yuphoria and Yu Yureka, the reference is probably to Yureka, its first phone powered by Snapdragon 610 chipset.

“Who says the best can’t be made better? (scrambled)” it asked in a subsequent tweet.

“Ym ocemckab liwl be aculrpsetca #BetterThanBefore” (My comeback will be spectacular) it added.

In fact, if the Yureka in relaunched with better specs, the most important improvement will be for it come with a full HD display.

In nearly all the ways, the Yureka was a steal at Rs 8,999. However, with the launch of Lenovo K3 Note, which is priced at Rs 9,999 and comes with a full HD display, models like Lenovo A7000 and Yureka — costing Rs 8,999 — became overpriced.

Relaunching Yureka with a full HD display at the same price (Rs 8,999) would take the fight right up to Lenovo’s doorstep.

If Yureka is indeed relaunched with an FHD display, it will be very unfortunate for Lenovo, which has been expecting to sell at least a few lakhs of its K3 Notes in India.

It will be somewhat like a repeat of an earlier situation. Just as Lenovo was beginning to kick and enjoy skyrocketing sales of its A6000 Plus, Yu launched Yuphoria with the exact same specifications and better looks at Rs 500 less than what Lenovo was charging.
