Women in mind, Nokia pitches pink N8

In a move probably aimed at addressing the conspicuous lack of “new model” announcements in the recent days, Nokia has unveiled a new pink edition of its high-end smartphone N8.

The “feminine powerhouse”, to be available from today onwards in 18 cities, is targeted at women, the firm said.

Nokia is undergoing a massive shift in its high-end product strategy, moving from the venerable Symbian operating system to the new Microsoft Windows Mobile 7 by end of the year.

The N8 was launched early this year and has a 12 megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash and records HD video. It, however, does not have a physcial keypad — a shortcoming that was addressed by the release of the E7 three months ago.
