Google holds ‘Doodle 4 Google’ for children in India

Google will hold an all-India ‘Doodle 4 Google’ competition for children in New Delhi in November this year.

The event, open to children in the 5-16 age category, requires participants to send in their drawings of the Google logo by post by October 23.

Google will also visit “a few hundred schools” in 40 cities across India to collect the entries.

Children will have to draw a stylized version of the Google logo in their own way.

“This year we are looking for doodles which show India’s “Unity in Diversity”. India has myriad diversity yet a unique unity that binds us together,” the internet company said.

Last year, Google had asked children to describe what they thought India’s biggest contribution to the world has been. With 5 different musical instruments, 7-year old Varsha Gupta from Ryan International School, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh made the winning doodle.

The winning doodle goes on the Google India homepage on Children’s Day (November 14th, 2012) and will also show up on a special color pack and drawing books from Google’s partner, Classmate.
