iBall launches new Slide tablet

iBall has launched a new version of its ‘Slide’ tablet, but with very few changes, making it less attractive than the Micromax Funbook or the Datawind Ubislate — which cost about half or less than the iBall Slide.

Basic specs remain the same:

1 GHz single-core ARM Cortex A8 processor

Multitouch 800 x 480 pixel capacitive display

HDMI, but no built-in 3G

A new features in the iBall Slide i7218 is the presence of two cameras — a 2 MP camera on the back and a VGA camera in the front.

The iBall Slide is also one of the few that support a full-size USB connection without having to use a cable, to connect devices like a pen drive. However, that also means that the iBall Slide is bulkier looking than other tablets.

It has been priced at around Rs 12,000. However, compared to the Rs 6,500 Micromax Funtab, which has very very similar specifications, the tablet fails the value-for-money test.

The Slide weighs about 450 gm and has 8 GB built-in storage capacity.
