New petroleum minister Jaipal Reddy has announced a cash compensation of Rs 25 lakh to family of Yashwant Sonawane, the Additional Collector of Malegaon, (Maharashtra) who was killed while trying to prevent oil pilferage.
The oil companies were told to soon reintroduce the marker programme for PDS Kerosene, under which Kerosene is mixed with a special colouring agent to set it apart from open market kerosene.
The ministry also said that the firms are developing a system through which information on daily dispatch of PDS SKO from every Depot and details of Tank trucks transporting them and destination will be uploaded on their website for the information of the public.
