Breakthrough in J Dey murder case? 3 picked up

In what may prove to be a breakthrough in the investigations into the murder of journalist J Dey in Mumbai, the Mumbai police are learnt to have picked up three men. Two have been picked up from Dongri in South Mumbai and one from Pune.

All three are alleged to be working for Chhota Shakeel, a ‘henchman’ of Dawood Ibrahim.

The three men are named Iqbal Hatel and Mateen, according to sources.

It is said that Dey may have been murdered after he exposed sandalwood and khair tree smuggling from Maharashtra to Dubai, much of which is done by people associated with the Dawood gang. However, some have suggested skepticism about such claims by the police.
