The ruling Congress Party has called on Pakistan to come clean on whether its government institutions support terror or not.
Responding to the revelations made by former terrorist David Headley in a Chicago court, Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said Pakistan will be forced to come clean as the trial of Headley and Tahawwur Rana progresses.
“As this trial progresses, Pakistan will be forced to explain whether its government institutions support terror or not,” Tewari said, adding that it is not just India that is looking to Pakistan for answers, but the entire International community affected by terrorism.
The first day of the trial of Rana brought out David Headley, who has since switched sides to the prosecution, giving details of Pakistani spy agency ISI helping the Lashkar e Toiba terror network carry out the Mumbai terror attacks.
Congress, however, dismissed BJP’s call for Pakistan to be de-nuclearized. “The comment shows that they neither understand Nuclear weapons nor the associated strategies,” Tewari said, urging BJP not to give unsolicited advice. “Such strategy is not discussed in public,” he added.
