M Karunanidhi, the leader of the DMK party whose daughter Kanimozhi was sent to jail today, had indicated that he will not take any drastic action against the Congress or its alliance.
The move has come as a relief to the Congress party which was afraid of its ally dropping out of the governing United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre.
“I feel like any other father whose kin is arrested.. I will continue my good relations with the Congress,” Karunanidhi said, hinting that it’s status-quo for now.
He added that he is consulting legal experts to arrange for an appeal to the order of the Judge today sending Kanimozhi to the Tihar jail.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the DMK party is wrestling with how to react to the latest turn of events, with many powerful voices in favor of a low-key response.
