TVS Motors two-wheeler sales jump 30% in September

tvs-motorsTwo-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company said its sales grew by 26% during the month of September.

Total sales increased to 2.93 lakh compared with 2.32 lakh for the same month the previous year.

Total two-wheeler sales increased by 30.1% to 2.87 lakhs from 2.21 lakh whereas domestic two wheeler sales grew by 33.6 % to 2.54 lakh from 1.90 lakh, the company added.

Motorcycle sales grew by 35.9 % to 1.22 lakh units from 90,393 units whereas scooter sales grew by 12.7% to 84,850 units from 75,307 units.

The company’s total exports fell 8.5% to 38,164 units in the month of September 2016 as against 41,435 units in September 2015, said the company.

Due to supply chain disruptions, production was short by 25,000 units, the company said.

 

Three wheeler sales of the company took a hit as it fell by almost 50%to 5,808 from 11,773 units for the month of September last year.

Two wheeler exports grew by 8.3% to 33,475 units from 30,908 units.

During the second quarter of the current financial year, two wheeler sales grew by 23.1% to 7.95 lakh from 6.46 lakh units in the second quarter of the previous year.

Three wheeler sales of the Company was 0.20 lakh units in the second quarter of the current year as against 0.33 lakh units in the second quarter of the previous year.
