Maruti Suzuki India Ltd reported a big jump of 12.2% in its August sales this year led by the strong performance in the domestic market.
Totoal domestic market sales were up 12.3% to 1.2 lakhs, its strongest performance so far this year.
Exports also grew briskly rising 10.8% to 12,280 units.
The stars of the show were its mid size sedan Ciaz which saw sales of 6,214 among its strongest performances since its sales started more than an year ago.
In August last year, Ciaz had sold only 4156 units.
With this total Ciaz sales are up 27.7% for the first five months of this financial year.
Another strong performer this time was its recently unveiled line-up comprising S-Cross, Vitara Brezza.
Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle segment which comprises these models along with Ertiga Gypsy and Grand Vitara more than doubled in sales this August compared to last year.
Total utility vehicle sales were at 16,806 in August this year compared to 7,836 last year.
The entry level segment continued to see bleeding with its sales of Alto and Wagon R falling by 5.8% to 35,490 in August.
