WATCH LIVE as Renault announces price of KWID 1000 cc

renaul-kwid-1000ccRenault the French automaker is launching its 999 cc variant of its entry-level model KWID SCe in India at 12 PM today, and is expected to reveal the pricing details in a few minutes.

The company had opened the bookings for the variant earlier this month and is expected to start delivery by September.

The variant will lock horns with Maruti’s Alto K10 in the 1000cc hatchback segment.

The company had launched its 800cc variant of KWID back in September last year at a very competitive price.

The new variant comes with a three cylinder engine which produces a power of 67 bhp and a maximum torque of 91 Nm.

KWID was launched with a 799cc, 3 cylinder engine which delivers 54 bhp power and a maximum torque of 72 Nm.

The competitive price tag, muscular looks, one of the highest ground clearance in the small car segment of 180mm and 300 litre boot space posed a threat to Maruti’s Alto.

The company had reported that it has sold more than 75000 units of the KWID 800cc from its date of launch.

Renault is expected to launch an automated manual transmission version of the Kwid later this year.
