India sees spurt in tourist arrivals from Bangladesh

ministry of tourismBangladesh sent the highest number of tourists to India, according to numbers for tourism arrivals for July this year.

Bangladesh accounted for 17.3% of tourists arrivals followed by USA and UK contributing 16.5% and 11.67% respectively, said the tourism ministry.

Bangladesh is the source of the largest number of illegal immigrants to India. Since the BJP government came to India in Assam, efforts have been made to control the flow of illegal immigrants fro the Bangladeshi side.

OVERALL TOURISM PICKS UP

Revenue from foreign tourism grew to Rs 14,319 crore in July, higher by 19.5 % the compared to the previous year, said the Ministry of Tourism the ministry added.

7.36 lakh Foreign tourists visited India in July this year were as compared to 6.28 lakh during same period last year.

Delhi Airport (26.22%) followed by Mumbai Airport (17.04%) were among the top ports on the basis of foreign tourist arrivals whereas Amritsar Airport (0.97%) and Ghojadanga land check post (0.71%) showed the least number of arrivals.
