Samsung Galaxy A8 to launch in India in three weeks, price Rs 28k

samsung-galaxy-a8 Samsung Galaxy A8 is on track for its India launch over the next three weeks, according to industry sources, and the handset is likely to be the Korean brand’s primary offering in the mid range, with a sticker price of around Rs 31,900.

Depending on the exact timing, actual online retail price would be around Rs 27,000-28,000, while the phone will retail at around Rs 30,000 in brick and mortar stores.

The pictures of Galaxy A8 have already been leaked on the Internet, and most of the specifications indicate that it will be a slight improvement over the A7. For example, the display size will increase from 5.5 inch to 5.7 inch, but resolution will be the same at full-HD.

To get an actual improvement in resolution to quad-HD, fans of Galaxy A series will have to wait for the launch of the A9, which should happen in the next three months.

The A7, which was launched at Rs 31,000 in January, is currently selling at around Rs 25,000 on Amazon. It is likely to hit the Rs 24,000 mark by the end of this month, which is when the A8 will come out.

The key differences between the A7 and the A8 are as follows:

a) Better camera: The A8 comes with a 16 MP shooter at the back, while the A7 has a 13 MP one.

b) Better looks: The A8 definitely looks more graceful due to its increased length. The silver gril around the sides are less pronounced and the edges are more curvy and the design language is close to that of the Galaxy S6.

c) Bigger display: The display is 7.4% bigger in area, while the technology will remain Super AMOLED.

d) Android 5 Lolipop: The first A series phone to sport this update.

e) Slight bigger, 3050 mAh battery compared to 2.6 Ah battery on the earlier model.

f) A fingerprint sensor for easier unlocking and added security.

The A8 is also likely to have 16 GB of internal storage, 2 GB of RAM and come with the mid-range Snapdragon 615 chipset.

The A7 has been one of the most successful launches for the Korean company in recent years. The phone has successfully taken on competition in the upper mid range from other MNC brands.
