Inox Multiplex starts operations at Mumbai’s Metro House Cinema

inoxInoX Leisure Ltd said it launched the commercial operations at Mumbai’s iconic Metro House cinema.

The new multiplex has 6 screens and 1491 seats.

The multiplex operator had won the lease for the building a little more than a year ago. Metro House was shut in 2014, 79 years after it was opened.

It was designed by Scottish architect Thomas Lamb in 1934 for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or MGM.

The property is owned by Metro Realty, which began renovating it in 2014. The property is being converted into a multi-storey shopping center-cum-multiplex.

“With this launch, Inox is now present in 57 cities with 113 multiplexes, 446 screens and a total seating capacity od 1,13,662 seats across India”, said Inox.

“Inox Leisure Ltd. will continue its expansion into places like Kolhapur, Coimbatore and Cuttack while adding new properties in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur among others,” said the company.
