Rs 5,000 cr Mumbai Metro Phase 3 work contract signed

mumbai-metroJ. Kumar Infraprojects, a Mumbai based infrastructure company said it signed an an agreement with the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRC) for Rs 5,012 crore phase-3 city metro works.

MMRC issued a letter of authorization (LOA) to “J. Kumar – CRTG” joint venture for the 3rd phase of the Metro project. The project was assaigned to the JV last month.

Details of the letter of authorization encompasses the design and construction of underground sections, including four underground stations at Dharavi, BKC, Vidhyanagari and Santacruz and associated tunnels worth of approximate Rs 2,858 Crore.

The agreement also contains designing and construction of underground sections including Chathrapathi Shivaji International Airport’s (CSIA) domestic and International airport. The associated bored tunnels worth is approximately Rs 2,153 Crore.

Civil contractors for this project were selected in accordance with the Japan International Cooperation Agency procurement guidelines through an international competitive bidding.

The 33.5 km long, Metro -3 corridor will stretch across 27 stations and will be built underground.

The requisite preparatory work such as conducting surveys and related investigations are in progress and the project work is likely to commence in the month of October 2016.

“The project is a great opportunity to ease the congestion Mumbaikars currently face and we will commence operations by October 2016”, said the Executive Chairman of J. Kumar infraprojects Ltd, Jagdishkumar M. Gupta.
